The Theology of Work
Why do we need to work? | From garbage e-books on Amazon to should we fear for Gen Alpha? Link recommendation to wrap your half week.
Don't you know that no one is happier for you than God himself?
Hiii, hope you’re feeling good today!
Today, let’s talk about the theology of work, the dream, and five other issues we should consider. Hope you enjoy it!
Work seems daunting and miserable.
The struggle is real-from getting the job, performing well for a promotion, or finding another job because you're not satisfied with the previous one and the cycle goes on and on. But the reality is we need to work; we need the money to support ourselves and other people too, like our family. If the whole world’s resources are meant for the good of the population, why don’t we just divide them equally? Why do we struggle to get one for ourselves, and in order to get that, we need to work until the midnight?
“Is work a punishment because of our sin?”
I found this question sophisticated in the video of Bishop Robert Barron. I was so intrigued by the video title and just clicked it. You can watch the whole video here:
I think the whole video can answer the question and the earlier passage we talk today. But, let’s explore into the next step:
Work seems fine to me, it’s necessary not because of our sin but because God lets us to develop this good world (ps: only according to His plan). God allows development into this world. Adam first job was too big and daunting, he obviously needed a colleague to name all the living things God created. Indeed, God gave him a partner, Eve. We can see in the Bible that all our prophets must have their daily job; Jesus was a carpenter, Peter was a fisherman, and many other more. As I write this, it reminds me about their purpose and the dream God gave for them.
DREAM!
Ef 2:10 (NLT)
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
God have dream for each of us, and we need to work for that dream. God wants us to be His co-laborers in doing his magnificent project. Have you ever caught yourself feel so excited, thrilled, and doubtful at the same time? Or have you ever caught yourself dreaming about something which feels so beyond your circumstances right now? I experienced it, recently. The thought, “it's too hard to achieve” caught my eyes. God's dream for all of us seems so crazy and too complicated to achieve.
And that's God, who doesn't want the bare minimum in our life.
The scary dreams might interrupt my peace but then I realize, each dream God puts in my heart, He puts it intentionally and He will make it happen. I just need to trust Him. Don't you know that no one is happier for you than God himself?
And that dream also need energy from us, which is ‘get back to work.” It can't be happen if we’re lazy to work on our part. And, if you don’t see that your hard work seems promising, don't worry, keep on looking the Goodness of God. He will make it happen for you.
