If you want to feel good, then do good things
Scoop 3: Have you ever wondered about the cost of uninvited species?
Happy Sunday!!
Here are the things to start or to end your weekend. Today, we’re going to talk about the Golden Visa, invasive species, and how to have a good feeling. At the end of the story, I’ll talk a little bit about life and death.
About Golden-Visa
Indonesia has launched the Golden Visa to attract more wealthy investors. Guess who is the first investor to have the Golden Visa?
Yups, OpenAi Chief Executive, Sam Altman.
He was granted with 10-year visa and by doing that, we hope for his contribution to the development of Artificial Intelligence in Indonesia. The Golden visa holders will not need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the immigration office. and plus they must by a recommendation of central government institution, per The Jakarta Post.
Golden Visa program, those who invested $2.5 million in our country will get a five-year stay and will double if their investment is doubled.
Meanwhile, corporate investors need to invest $25 million to get 5-year visas for directors and commissionaires. It will double if they invest double the amount of money, the Jakarta Post explained.
We want to feel good every time, don’t we need more self-reward?
“Happy is the man who can make others better, not merely when he is in their company, but even when he is in their thoughts!” Seneca said.
We’ve talked about this: the job of the Stoic is not just to better their own lives. We, by our example, by our words and deeds, should make the lives of others better. We should be a positive source. We should leave people and places better than we found them. As Marcus Aurelius said, do good if you want to feel good.
Let’s talk about invasive species.
According to Wikipedia, an invasive or alien species is introduced to an environment that becomes overpopulated and harms its new environment. Human health and economies are also at risk from invasive species. Reuters reports that these invasive species can cost at least $423 billion yearly.
So, how do these species invade certain areas?
These species can invade certain areas because of human activity. People are so easily moved away nowadays, that they unconsciously carry uninvited species with them.
Ships can carry aquatic organisms in their ballast water, while smaller boats may carry them on their propellers. Insects can get into wood, shipping palettes, and crates that are shipped around the world. Some ornamental plants can escape into the wild and become invasive. And some invasive species are intentionally or accidentally released pets. For example, Burmese pythons are becoming a big problem in the Everglades. - NWF explained.
And plus, warmer temperatures under climate change can fasten the expansion of invasive species. The dangerous of invasive species range from competing native wildlife, damaging infrastructure, and threatening human health.
This Sunday, a group of teens sang a song with deep lyrics in the Batak language. As a Christians, we only have two choices in this world, life or death. King Solomon in his late age, talked a lot about the despair of humanity in this finite world. As a wealthy king with powers, he was full of wisdom in his old age and wanted to warn us about the life we live in this short time.
Between life and death, but how do we choose it?
Pillit ma hangoluan- was the lyrics that kept echoing in my head as I fidgeted my feet during their session. No one ever talks about how to choose between life and death, and no one really knows what is the best approach to acknowledge between those. In reality, we are trapped with lots of opinions, minds, and information, we’re making bad mistakes, repeating silly sins, and many-many more.
In fact, we know we‘re doing something wrong, but we close our eyes as if nothing has happened.
If the Church or Holy people can’t explain the difference between those, why do they keep telling us how to avoid sins but not how to acknowledge the signs of sins? Every person I know, has their personal sins and battling with those sins literally every single day. They blame themselves because of the cost of their sins. They truly need assistance to help them cut their behavior, mind, and feeling that raise their act to do sins. They need that, not only about the penalty of choosing -death-
The Grace of God shouldn’t be an excuse for us to sin again, I absolutely agree. However, wherever and whenever you have the urge in your heart to listen to someone about their faith struggle, put your ears on, and pray to God on things you should and should not to say.
Happy blessed Sunday.
